Objectives

At the end of this activity, students should be better able to (select as many as apply):

read body language and tone

compromise

manage conflict

Activity

Divide the class into groups of 5 to 6.

Give a member of each group a bingo card. (found in additional resources).

Read out a question related to the topic being taught.

Groups should write down their answers - once all groups have written down their answers, reveal the correct one.

If the group got the right answer, they can pick any number from 1 to 75 to fill into their bingo cards. As a group, they have to agree on one number. Once another group has picked a number, this number is no longer available for any other group for this question and all subsequent questions as well. (Write the 36 numbers on a board and cross them out whenever a group has picked that number - numbers can be picked on a first come first served basis.)

Keep going until all questions have been answered.

Each group scores 5 points for every horizontal or vertical line they have completed.

Time Needed for Activity

25 MINUTES

Additional Resources

Download ( Bingo Cards (Bingo).pdf )

Rationale

Picking numbers requires the group members to sometimes sacrifice their own chances to score a ‘bingo’ so that their team mates can do it instead. This encourages them to compromise.
